Sunshine Stars of Akure on Wednesday beat Wikki Tourist by a lone goal to keep up hope of avoiding relegation in the Nigerian Professional Football League Season.

After a goalless first half that saw Sadeeq Yusuf and Bello Babatunde come close to getting within the goals, the Owena Whales found a reason to smile through their Captain and Forward Fuad Ekelojuoti.

Lively right full back, Habib Yakubu floated a cross in from a corner Kick which Ejike Uzoechi appeared to have headed wide only for co defender Kehinde Adedipe to keep it in for Ekelojuoti to tuck it away for Sunshine first and lone strike of the game.

Yusuf would have doubled the Ondo State Team’s lead when he was clear on goal with Tourists’ keeper, but it lob went inches wide.

The win improves Sunshine’s lot on the table though within the drop zone, but enough to aspire to top flight Football next season.
