The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission has warned state and local governments to beware of fraudsters claiming to be official representatives of the commission, with the promise of increasing their revenue allocation at a negotiated percentage.
The commission’s Chairman, Elias Mbam, stated this in Abuja recently while addressing newsmen on the progress of the commission’s review of the existing revenue allocation formula.
This was contained in a statement titled ‘Don’t fall to fraudsters for increasing your revenue allocation; RMAFC tell state govs, local govts chairmen’ issued by the commission’s public relations officer, Nwachukwu Christian, on Monday.
Mba stated that the allocation would be based on existing laws and no one could increase the allocation.
“He emphasised that revenue allocation to states and Local Government Areas is based on subsisting law and cannot be changed or increased by anybody,” the statement added.
Mbam further said that the commission was undertaking a nationwide sensitisation and advocacy meetings with various stakeholders on the RAF review exercise.
